Lyric Motivation
Started life as "Too Much My Type" — a story about running into a guy at a club who is just way too much her type, and knowing she should stay away from him. As the storytelling turned, "too much my type" became "too much time," and Idle Hands took over as the theme of the song.

What I Rejected
27 earlier iterations — 28 generations in total to reach this final version. The early drafts carried a different story entirely before the theme turned.
What I Changed By Hand
- Placed in Suno Studio for stem work to shape the final arrangement. The original lyrics were completely replaced, then the Too Much My Type lyrics were completely replaced again, and there was still final tweaking on the last version of the lyrics.
The breakdown
Idle Hands is a remake/remix of a very different song: a rock and roll track called "Overdrive." The original was catchy, but to me it was missing something, lyric-wise and music-wise, that would appeal to everyday people — so I rebuilt it from the ground up in that direction. From "Overdrive," the song moved through "Too Much My Type" — the full story is told under Lyric Motivation — and then the storytelling turned: "too much my type" became "too much time," and Idle Hands took over as the theme. 28 iterations, plus stem work, went into reaching this final version.
